Launched in Malaysia this week, this intelligent device was created to be the third eye in all kinds of vehicles, helping to mitigate and avoid risk of collision.
The Marina in Putrajaya, was the location selected for everyone invited to witnessed the launch of the world most advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) – Mobileye on June 4th. With the support from the Guest of Honour, YBhg. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Hamid bin Syed Jaafar Albar as the person to lunch the integrated product, Pro ICE Sales & Service (M) Sdn. Bhd as the appointed master distributor is now ready to roll out the product through their dedicated distribution network.
How does it work?
A single smart camera that is mounted to the windscreen monitors the road and provides the driver with critical real-time audible and visual warnings. But behind its simple operation is a breakthrough proprietary EyeQ chip and complex algorithms that translates real world scenarios into a unique set of driver safety and convenience.
In case of an impending danger, the Mobileye system issue audio and visual warnings, allowing drivers enough time to react. With its ability to synchronize directly to your Smartphone via Bluetooth, Mobileye allows you not only to view the alerts on your phone, but also to receive live data and statistic about your driving behaviour. Mobileye can be installed in all type of trucks, buses, vans lorries and cars.
Why Mobileye?
Statistically, 72% of all road accidents are caused by driver inattention. Where a moving vehicle is concerned even a momentary lapse of concentration can lead to horrible results. With several tests conducted and receiving feedbacks from the countries using Mobileye, it is proven that about 45% to 50% of crashes can be avoided using this device. Clearly by having a Mobileye in your vehicle, you will be able to increase your alertness while driving as Mobileye acts as your co-pilot.

However, even with such advanced technology we cannot take our hands off from our responsibility or the steering wheel. With or without Mobileye, it is the top priority of every driver to be alert, and aware of the road safety while driving. Mobileye will not take over the duty of drivers; they are still the one in control and in charge. Empiric study
While all this sounds fairly sophisticated, it simply means that the use of Mobileye's technology will reduce accidents.
In a study commissioned by the Ministry of Transport, Netherlands in 2008, some 2400 trucks were monitored. A sample size of 400 trucks was operating without Mobileye. The estimated number of crashes during the test phase was to be between four and five accidents. The other 2000 trucks were fitted with Mobileye techonolgy. The basic assumption was that second sample size is five times bigger and the use of Mobileye technology would reduce the accidents by about 50 %. Hence the second, larger sample should have had between 11 - 13 accidents.
Some 77 Million Kilometers later the results came in to surprise everyone. While the sample without Mobileye had five accidents, as initially estimated as the high value. Meanwhile, the larger group of trucks fitted with the ADAS had zero accidents.
