Under the 10th Malaysia Plan, PPP initiatives centers on the upgrading of public transportation in Greater KL, amongst others, further acknowledging the need for transportation to further propel economic growth. With the usage of public transport at a 17% low (as of 2013) and with a target to push the number of public transport use by 40 percent by 2020, the government is allocating up to RM2.7bil under the facilitation fund for public-private partnerships (PPP) projects
in 2014 to provide support and complement PPP initiatives in the pipeline for Malaysia.
