Mitsubishi Fuso launches new light-duty Rosa bus

Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC; headquarters:
Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture; President and CEO Hartmut Schick), announces the
launch of the upgraded light-duty Rosa bus in Australia. The vehicle comes with an updated
face featuring the FUSO “Black Belt” design, as well as advanced safety features. The new
Rosa will also be introduced to New Zealand in early 2021.
For this major model upgrade of the Rosa for Australia, MFTBC has introduced various
changes both in terms of technology and design. Most importantly, the vehicle now comes
standard with advanced features to better support safe driving. As the Rosa is widely used in
Australia for the transportation of school children and the elderly in nursing homes, the
market-first additions of the Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), the Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), as well as the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) represent a significant overhaul for the Australian light-duty bus segment. A reversing camera
on the rear also provides another level of assurance for safer maneuvering. This is also the first time that MFTBC is introducing the DUONIC 2.0 automated manual transmission (AMT)
to the Rosa bus. The six-speed dual-clutch transmission is expected to deliver better fuel
efficiency and smooth shifting for a more comfortable driving experience.
The most widely sold light-duty bus in Australia also now comes with an updated face. This is
the first time that the FUSO “Black Belt” design language has been introduced to the Rosa in an overseas model. Height-adjustable LED headlamps have been integrated into the modern and sleek look of the vehicle. In the interior, the Rosa now incorporates a high-resolution
touchscreen display into the dashboard, as well as a new electronic instrument cluster that
presents data such as fuel-efficiency and maintenance status in real time. A flat-floor design
has also been introduced to this model, making sure that passengers can enter and exit the
vehicle more safely and comfortably.
The Rosa has been a best-seller in the Asian Pacific region for the past decade, with Australia
representing one of the largest markets for the Rosa outside of Japan Within the light-duty
bus segment, the product has recorded top shares in recent years, and this strength in
presence is expected to continue with the upgrade in safety and design elements. As with
previous models, this new Rosa is being exported as BU product from MFTBC’s bus
manufacturing plant in Toyama Prefecture, Japan.
