The first bus festival in Malaysia
Through a collaboration between subsidiaries of Putrajaya Corporation, Pengangkutan Awam Putrajaya Sdn Bhd (PAPSB), Eh Eh Bazaar Sdn Bhd and a strategic cooperation with Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Malaysia (DPMM) WP Putrajaya Buses have seen the first BusFest Putrajaya. Through this inaugrual event in 2014, Buses were given a new platform for exposure of the industry.
The program was officially launched by the President of Putrajaya Corporation, Tan Sri Dr Aseh bin Che Mat and was held from 5 to 7 December. The event was held in and around the Putrajaya Sentral Station, Precinct 7. The objective of the campaign was to raise public awareness of the importance of using public transport which is the Putrajaya buses. This strategic partnership also aimed to promote Putrajaya Sentral Station as a public transport hub for the region Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, Dengkil and Sepang.
The increase of the public transport usage has inspired organisers to create the program "Eh Eh Busfest Putrajaya 2014" to encourage the younger generation to use this means of transportation. The organisers hoped that especially the generation-y are going to continue using public services as the main transportation to the destination of their choice, especially in Putrajaya.
“The idea came from Tan Sri Dr Aseh bin Che Mat, the President of Coporation Putrajaya. He likes to create innovative ideas. Instead of just an advertisement or hanging the banners which is too common and only giving little impact in the pursuit of creating awareness, why not we make it a bus festival, which manage to give more influence to the public?,” said Ir.Hj Ab Rahim Bin Md Junoh, Chief Executive Officer.
“We came up with lots of varied activities for the festival such as “Doodle Art On Bas Showcase”, “SelfieBusFest”, “Movie on Bus”, “Library on Bus” and many more. We created awareness along with all of the fun,” he added.
The new branding by PAPSB, or formerly known as Nadi Putra, will also see the new logo, which was officially launched during this program where the logo design competition was launched in October last year. Eh Eh Busfest in this program also witnessed the inauguration of the new service, namely the "Sightseeing Putrajaya" bus. Sightseeing Putrajaya takes visitors through some exciting destinations around Putrajaya including the Prime Minister's Office, Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), the Palace of Justice and many other attractions in Putrajaya. Tourists will also enjoy the beauty of Putrajaya as the "garden city" and "smart cities".
