A self-driving China-made public bus was showcased at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, the first vehicle of its kind in the streets of the city. DeepBlue Technology (Shanghai) Co, Ltd – a Shanghai based firm using artificial intelligence displayed three latest AI products for urban life at the expo.

The first was a 12 metre panda smart bus powered by the latest lithium iron phosphate batteries. The vehicle had been equipped with intelligent driving technology features such as palm-print recognition, in-vehicle infotainment, voice interaction and sensors for monitoring passenger behaviour.

The second innovation was a panda bus stop which was enabled by 5G cellular network technology. The stations will then form an intelligent public travel service system, which would also empower urban traffic operations and management by bringing a convenient and brand-new experience to commuters. With sensors, individuals would be identified and relevant advertisements would be provided according to preferences and needs.

The last innovation showcased was an intelligent road sweeper, which had adopted a centralised real-time system of automatic driving technology. The vehicle can independently plan routes, identify obstacles, pedestrians and recognise traffic lights.
