Netizens Hyped Over Transjakarta Electric Bus Trial
The first Transjakarta electric buses were tested in Jakarta on April 29. Three buses were tested, all of which were from the Chinese automotive giant BYD.
The Transjakarta public electric bus emits no smoke emission and can operate more or less within 200km to 250km with a single charge of electricity.
This was welcomed warmly by the folks of Jakarta who want to see more public transportations that use environmentally friendly energy in the capital city. It was even a trending topic on Twitter with the hashtag #BusListrikTransJakarta.
Twitter user @NRRiezma tweeted that the presence of electric buses can reduce traffic congestion and reduce environmental pollution while @AsetEltho posted that electric buses are safer, more economical and are environmentally friendly. Netizen @ Arfan3151 considers this an extraordinary achievement because "finally Indonesia has an electric bus."
The electric bus trial is planned to be carried out for six months. PT Transportasi Jakarta is working with a number of bus manufacturers namely BYD, MAB, and RAC-Danfos, as well as educational institutions at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). The cooperation was signed in a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Jakarta, on March 21, 2019.
