Supply chain traceability solution provider PNMB Innoventures Sdn Bhd expects to track more than 100 million products on its Identem platform in the coming years.

"We hope that over the next few years, we can achieve a few hundred million of products tagged and monitored on our platform. The products can be anything that is valuable, that may prone to counterfeit," its chief executive officer Mohd Hedzri P Jaafar told Asian Trucker.

The system identifies or tags the products by scanning the bar-coding system which can be printed from various methods, such as laser marking, inkjet printer, security labels, RFID labels, or other methods. The platform then tracks the products by its point to point system, where each supply chain player needs to conduct some form of scanning at each of the checkpoints.
These products can be an everyday item like auto parts, medicine, food, and even cosmetics. Currently, the company has close to one million products tagged on its platform.

Identem also allows companies to gain consumer insights, such as their buying behavior and patterns, as well as achieve supply chain visibility and optimisation.
"When it becomes more widespread, you are talking about hundreds of millions, or even to the billions of products tagged and monitored in our system," said Mohd Hedzri.
Mohd Hedzri revealed that the company is working on two strategies, enhancing its products internally or work with selected partners like CCTV solution partners and sensor providers.
"It is to collect a broader range of data for its Identem platform and Findme - customisable GPS tracking platform," Mohd Hedzri said.
