The half-day tournament which saw players teeing off in the wee hours of the morning concluded by around lunch time with Dato’ Peter Yong King King, General Manager, Forest Operations, Jaya Tiasa Holdings Berhad, taking the victory spot in this year’s tournament by scoring 39 points.

“I woke up this morning looking forward to an exciting game of golf but I guess I got more than just that, which is really great! I am pleased with my golfing performance today and it has been a really good game for all of us who played,” said Dato’ Peter Yong.

With his win, not only Dato’ Peter Yong wins a trophy but he will also move on to represent Malaysia at the World Finals in China next year. The 53 year-old General Manager will have to play against other national champions from 25 countries for a chance to walk away with the ultimate title of the Volvo World Golf Champion 2014.  

“It will be an honour to compete with other golfers from around the world in the world finals next year. I am excited and I will certainly be playing more rounds of golf to sharpen my skills before the World Finals,” the elated Dato’ Peter Yong added.

Mr Ben Lim Choon Shyang from Vertex Mission Sdn Bhd and Mr Fred Chen from Ah Sang Motor emerged as winners of the second and third place respectively. Both winners brought home a trophy and a game of weekday golf for four at the KLGCC Golf and Country Club (2nd place) and Tropicana Golf and Country Resort (3rd place).

Since its inauguration in 1988, the tournament has gathered more than one million golfers around the world in this exciting, competitive and highly-esteemed event regarded favourably among aspiring golfers. The winners of the national qualifying level will make their way to the World Finals, held in conjunction with Volvo’s major professional titles, Volvo China Open. The annual Volvo China Open is aimed at further communicating the premium quality and services of the brand as well as to reach out to Volvo key customers through this established and premier sport.
