The progress of the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sarawak has opened up a potential for Scania Malaysia to grow in the state, as it will increase the movement of goods and people. As a preparation, Scania is ensuring that services and support are in place for its customers in Sarawak while ensuring that drivers are trained to achieve the best fuel economy, safety and performance.

This is evidenced in the presentation of the award for the best Scania Fleet Management System (FMS) to the Bintulu High Court in conjunction with the state's FMS competition recently.

The award was presented at the Scania Sales and Service Centre in Bintulu, which is equipped with eight workshop bays and manned by nine staff. It is responsible for truck, bus, coach and engine sales while offering workshop services, contract services, and financial services, as well as driver and connected services.

Scania Southeast Asia’s Presales Director Tom Kuiphuis said Scania places tremendous effort on the after-sales service support for its customers and the Bintulu workshop is strategically located and equipped to offer top quality service and support for customers. "The aim is for customers to achieve maximum uptime and optimum fuel economy for their vehicles while maintaining the best total operating economy," he said.

Scania also has a mobile workshop based in Kuching that can offer a full spectrum of maintenance facilities for its vehicles as it is equipped like a full-fledged workshop including special tools, work bench, air compressor, waste oil disposal, full toolbox, hoists and lifting equipment. In addition, Scania has a 24/7 Scania Assistance standby service van based in Bintulu for roadside assistance anywhere in the state, which is manned by highly-skilled and experienced personnel to ensure that vehicles always operate for maximum uptime.
