MyKad, MyKid and MyTentera card holders can now enjoy a 30-day unlimited travel pass for Rapid KL bus services, as part of the 2019 Budget. It was announced at the tabling on November 2, where RM240 million was allocated to boost public transport usage.

However, it is limited to Malaysian identity cards via their Touch ‘n Go function, to ensure that only Malaysian citizens benefit from the initiative. MyKad and MyTentera holders can start subscribing to the pass beginning December 1 and commence using the facility from January 1; while MyKid holders can start subscribing from December 15. Subscriptions can be obtained at four bus hubs – Bandar Shah Alam, Greenwood (Gombak), Sri Nilam (Ampang), and the Kajang Terminal.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the travel pass is good for 30 days – not for one month, beginning from the first usage, and reloading of travel passes can be done at Touch ‘n Go reload facilities. The initiative is expected to benefit nearly 100 percent of Rapid KL bus service users in the Klang Valley.

This unlimited travel pass initiative also includes rail services. "Commuters using rail and bus services from Kajang to their place of work in KLCC now pay about RM280 a month or RM6.40 for a one-way trip. If they subscribe to the travel pass, they can save nearly RM180 per month,” Loke said.
